Elaraia Shetland Sheepdogs!

 

In 2014 we started our own breeding program of AKC/UKC Shetland Sheepdogs based on my mother's original bloodlines. Following in my family's footsteps. Our plans are to have agility and "doing" dogs, though we would like to eventually also have a line of performance dogs.

Dogs have always been a part of my life. My mother has been breeding American Sheltie lines that expressed more of the size, type and refinement of the UK Sheltie since 1985. When we chose to start breeding, choosing to continue my family's legacy was an easy decision. They are family and elder friendly, extremely intelligent and athletic, absolutely beautiful, very healthy and very "human". They are a great addition to any family who wants a new four-legged family member.

The type and refinement of our dogs are what we consider Shetland Sheepdogs of true UK Shetland Island type. This is our preference and the type of Sheltie we produce in our breeding program.

 

In the spring of 2019 we adjusted our focus by importing a beautiful male from eastern Europe of European champion bloodlines. To cross with our UK type American lines. And again in winter 2020 we imported a beautiful female from the same breeder. We are in the process of importing and establishing a breeding program based on 100% European bloodlines and the UK Kennel Club standards.

We have scoured the country for breeders that focus on pure UK lines, and we have yet to find any other breeder in the United States with pure and/or high percentage UK bloodlines.

We test all of our dogs for all of the breed specific diseases associated with the Shetland Sheepdog. And actively work to breed out any health issues associated with those diseases. Our top priority, above all else, is to have the healthiest and happiest dogs we can. With the type and refinement we prefer.
